Crescendo
"Crescendo" is a 2023 animated short film created in collaboration with a dedicated team of eight. The story revolves around an enchanted music box that springs to life on its own, setting the stage for a magical transformation where instruments and musicians animate in a captivating performance. As the lead in look development, I played a crucial role in shaping the film's visual identity. My contributions also spanned across story development, concept art, and modeling, ensuring that every aspect of the film reflected the rich, vintage aesthetic of the roaring twenties.
Look Development
As the lead in look development, my main task was to surface the characters, a crucial aspect of the project. I wanted the characters to be made of wood that clearly emphasized the music box's frequent use over the past years. Each character can be seen with subtle scratches and gentle wear, imbuing the characters with a sense of history. These details not only added depth to the narrative but also served as a visual reminder of the music box's continuing presence in the lives of those who cherished it.
In addition to surfacing the characters, I also surfaced the piano, music box exterior and interior, curtains, back wall decorations, music sheets, and table.

Logo Creation
Creating the title logo for our short film "Crescendo" was an exciting task. Drawing inspiration from the rich designs of the Art Deco era, I aimed to capture the essence of jazz and vintage charm that defines our film. The logo's sleek intricate detailing reflect the dynamic rhythms and elegance of a jazzy music box that mysteriously comes to life. This design not only sets the tone for our film but also evokes the enchanting and nostalgic atmosphere we aimed to portray. Working on this project allowed me to blend my passion for vintage aesthetics with a love for the spirited and timeless world of jazz, resulting in a logo that I hope will resonate with and intrigue our audience.
The end result features a striking trumpet design, symbolizing the heart of jazz music. The trumpet, with its bold and rounded lines, adds a dynamic and lively element to the logo, perfectly complementing the film's theme. This choice encapsulates the vibrant energy of jazz and ties it seamlessly with the vintage and Art Deco influences, creating a visually compelling and thematic representation of "Crescendo."
